Our Story, Mission, and Vision

Our Origin

In April 2026, Motherboard Labs was born from a single, urgent observation: technology is a double-edged sword. While it offers the power to connect and solve global crises, its production and disposal often come at the expense of the very communities who could benefit from it most.

The Challenge

We saw a cycle that needed breaking. Communities on the front lines of environmental impact—from e-waste to resource extraction—are frequently the same ones left behind by the digital revolution. This isn't just an "access" problem; it’s a justice problem.

Our Approach

We started Motherboard Labs to bridge that gap. By working directly with children and families, we explore how technology affects our air, water, and neighborhoods. We aren't just teaching kids how to use tech; we’re empowering them to advocate for Responsible Tech tools that are sustainable, ethical, and designed to serve the many, not just the few.

Our Mission

Motherboard Labs empowers young people and their communities to explore the intersection of technology and the environment through hands-on, community-based STEAM learning.

Through partnerships with schools, nonprofits, cultural institutions, and public organizations, we create engaging experiences that help students and families use technology to better understand, protect, and improve the world around them.

Our Vision

We envision a future where communities are equipped with the knowledge and tools to responsibly shape a technology-driven world—using innovation not only to advance society, but also to sustain and care for our planet.
